M.] 2008:346, Figs. 1-2 [Ichthyological Exploration of Freshwaters v. 18 (no. 4) [for 2007]; ref. 29385] Stream crossing road between Alta Floresta and Porto de Areia, 12 kilometers from the later, Teles Pires River drainage, Tapajós River basin, 9°44'09"S, 56°01'24"W, Munic. de Alta Floresta, Est. de Mato Grosso, Brazil, elevation 261m. Holotype: UFRJ 6523. Paratypes: Many lots at UFRJ. Plus non-type specimens. •Valid as Melanorivulus kayabi (Costa 2008) -- (Costa 2016:124 [ref. 34900], Costa et al. 2016:270 [ref. 35405], Nielsen 2017:65 [ref. 35340], Nielsen & Britzke 2019:41 [ref. 36525]). Current status: Valid as Melanorivulus kayabi (Costa 2008). Rivulidae: Rivulinae. Distribution: Tapajós River and Xingu River basins, southern Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
