M.] 2007:65, Figs. 10-11 [aqua, International Journal of Ichthyology v. 13 (no. 2); ref. 29394] Strean tributary to Rio Dueré, Rio Formosa drainage, Rio Araguaia Basin, near road BR-153, 10 kilometers south of Rio Dueré Municipality, Tocantins State, Brazil, 11°12'36.9"S, 48°55'52.6"W, elevation 270 meters. Holotype: UFRJ 6485. Paratypes: (2) UFRJ 6486 (1), 6487 (1 c&s). •Valid as Rivulus karaja Costa 2007 -- (Costa 2010:369 [ref. 30690]). •Valid as Melanorivulus karaja (Costa 2007) -- (Costa 2011:241 [ref. 31655], Costa 2016:136 [ref. 34900], Costa et al. 2016:270 [ref. 35405], Nielsen 2017:66 [ref. 35340], Nielsen & Britzke 2019:42 [ref. 36525]). Current status: Valid as Melanorivulus karaja (Costa 2007). Rivulidae: Rivulinae. Distribution: Middle Rio Tocantins drainage, central Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
