Holotype: MZUSP 45355. Paratypes: many at ANSP, MCP, MHNG and MZUSP. •Valid as Hisonotus chromodontus Britski & Garavello 2007 -- (Garvalho & Reis 2011:44 [ref. 31240], Carvalho & Datovo 2012:266 [ref. 32054], Roxo et al. 2014:57 [ref. 33252], Silva et al. 2014:119 [ref. 33533], Roxo et al. 2015:137 [ref. 33763], Zawadzki et al. 2016:380 [ref. 34367], Roxo et al. 2016:235 [ref. 34426], Calegari et al. 2017:243 [ref. 35203], Roxo et al. 2018:[12] [ref. 35900], Dias et al. 2018:583 [ref. 36235]). •Valid as Rhinotocinclus chromodontus (Britski & Garavello 2007) -- (Reis & Lehmann A. 2022:80 [ref. 39390]). Current status: Valid as Rhinotocinclus chromodontus (Britski & Garavello 2007). Loricariidae: Hypoptopomatinae. Distribution: South America: upper Rio Tapajós drainage, Mato Grosso, Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
