No types known. Also appeared in Rafinesque 1810:45 [ref. 3595]. Identity of Dalatias sparophagus Rafinesque 1810 is uncertain, but to maintain nomenclatural stability we here consider it as a junior synonym of D. licha. A neotype fixation for D. sparophagus Rafinesque 1810 in that sense would be desirable. •Questionably a synonym of Dalatias licha (Bonnaterre 1788) -- (Compagno 1984:63 [ref. 6474]). •Synonym of Dalatias licha (Bonnaterre 1788) -- (Hoese & Gates 2006:143 [ref. 28997], Castro 2011:142 [ref. 31457], Parenti 2019:102 [ref. 37117]). •Considered as a nomen dubium, family uncertain -- (W. T. White, pers. comm., Mar. 2025.). Current status: Synonym of Dalatias licha (Bonnaterre 1788). Dalatiidae. Habitat: marine.
