F.] 2008:142, Figs. 36-37 [Neotropical Ichthyology v. 6 (no. 2); ref. 29669] Rio Lindo, affluent to rio Cubatão, ca. 1 kilometer from bifurcation on road from Pirabeiraba to Campo Alegre (road SC 301), ca. 26°10'S, 18°57'W, Pirabeiraba, Santa Catarina, Brazil. Holotype: MCP 30405. Paratypes: MCP 10507 (3), 13735 (11, 4 c&s), 13972 (1), 31000 (564), 31137 (127), 31343 (2), 31348 (7); MHNCI 6525 (3), 6780 (2); USNM 320321 (12). Species epithet is a noun in apposition. •Valid as Phalloceros megapolos Lucinda 2008 -- (Meyer 2015:186 [ref. 34698], Huber 2019:89 [ref. 36941], Reis et al. 2020:474 [ref. 38364]). Current status: Valid as Phalloceros megapolos Lucinda 2008. Poeciliidae: Poeciliinae. Distribution: South America: São João and Cubatão (norte) rivers and small adjacent drainages which flow into Guaratuba Bay, southeastern Mata Atlantica (Paraná State, Brazil). Habitat: freshwater.
