Holotype: NRM 56987. Paratypes: 511 specimens at NRM. Name is a noun in apposition. •Valid as Puntius erythromycter Kullander 2008 -- (Kullander & Britz 2008:61 [ref. 29861]). •Valid as Pethia erythromycter (Kullander 2008) -- (Pethiyagoda et al. 2012:81 [ref. 32071], Disham & Vishwanath 2013:88 [ref. 32976], Kottelat 2013:140 [ref. 32989], Katwate et al. 2014:244 [ref. 33433], Shangningam & Vishwanath 2018:590 [ref. 35803], Chen et al. 2024:68 [ref. 41792]). Current status: Valid as Pethia erythromycter (Kullander 2008). Cyprinidae: Smiliogastrinae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Lake Indawgyi and Irrawaddy River basin, northern Myanmar. Habitat: freshwater.
