D.] in Nguyen 2006:631, Fig. 2 [Freshwater fishes of Vietnam v. 3; ref. 29809] Nam Rom River, Thanh Luong community, Dien Bien district, Dien Bien Province, Vietnam, about 21°25'N, 102°56'E. Holotype: RIA1(lost) [ex NCNTTS I Inst., Bac Ninh.]. Paratypes: RIA1 (3, lost). •Valid as Monopterus dienbienensis Nguyen & Nguyen 2006 as species inquirenda -- (Kottelat 2013:308 [ref. 32989], Endruweit 2024:116 [ref. 41040]). Current status: Uncertain as Monopterus dienbienensis Nguyen & Nguyen 2006. Synbranchidae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Nam Ou River drainage, Mekong River basin, Dien Bien Province, Vietnam [if valid]. Habitat: freshwater.
