dienbienensis, Mastacembelus Nguyen [V. H.] & Nguyen [H. D.] in Nguyen 2006:632, Fig. 3 [Freshwater fishes of Vietnam v. 3; ref. 29809] Dien Bien Phu city, Nam Nua watershed, Nam Ou drainage, Mekong River basin, Vietnam. Holotype: RIA1 (lost) [ex NCNTTS I Inst., Bac Ninh]. Paratypes: RIA1 (3, lost). Poor description; possibly in Sinobdella. Type specimens lost -- Endruweit 2014:157 [ref. 33205]. •Incertae sedis as Sinobdella dienbienensis (Nguyen & Nguyen 2006) -- (Kottelat 2013:314 [ref. 32989]). •Valid as Mastacembelus dienbienensis Nguyen & Nguyen 2006 -- (Vu et al. 2019:150 [ref. 37811], Endruweit 2024:113 [ref. 41040], Britz & Kottelat 2025:674 [ref. 42629]). Current status: Valid as Mastacembelus dienbienensis Nguyen & Nguyen 2006. Mastacembelidae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Luosuojiang River drainage, upper Mekong River basin, China and middle Mekong River basin, Laos and northern Vietnam. Habitat: freshwater.
