Holotype: MUMF 8098. Paratypes: MUMF 8096-97, 8099, 8100-02 (total of 6). The adjective combined with a neuter genus should be barakense. •Valid as Exostoma barakense Vishwanath & Joyshree 2007 (often seen as barakensis) -- (Linthoingambi & Vishwanath 2011:65 [ref. 31148], Ng & Vidthayanon 2014:431 [ref. 33523], Lalramliana et al. 2015:59 [ref. 33867], Tamang et al. 2015:444 [ref. 34045], Chen et al. 2017:8 [ref. 35642], Ng & Kottelat 2018:67 [ref. 35794], Darshan et al. 2019:376 [ref. 36641] as barakensis, Luo & Chen 2020:108 [ref. 37596] as barakensis, Arunkumar 2020:295 [ref. 37782], Shangningam & Limatemjen 2024:429 [ref. 41079]). Current status: Valid as Exostoma barakense Vishwanath & Joyshree 2007. Sisoridae: Glyptosterninae. Distribution: South Asia: Barak River drainage, Surma-Meghna basin, Manipur, India. Habitat: freshwater.
