O.] & Fang [F.] 2009:42, Figs. 1-2 [Zootaxa No. 2164; ref. 30285] Thande, Kananmae Chaung, near Leldee village, by foot 45 minutes from Gwechaung village at kilometer 18 on road Thandwe-Taunggok, 18°35'39"N, 94°22'45"E, Rakhine State, Myanmar. Holotype: NRM 44490. Paratypes: BMNH 2009.5.5.1 (1), 2009.5.5.1-18 (18), NRM 40804 (38), 40812 (78), 40826 (31), 40851 (3), 41269 (5), 44907 (19), 45662 (1). Plus non-type material. •Valid as Brachydanio aesculapii (Kullander & Fang 2009) -- (Kottelat 2013:83 [ref. 32989]). •Valid as Danio aesculapii Kullander & Fang 2009 -- (Kullander & Fang 2009:223 [ref. 30706], Kullander 2012:245 [ref. 32309], Kullander & Britz 2015:246 [ref. 33764]). Current status: Valid as Danio aesculapii Kullander & Fang 2009. Danionidae: Danioninae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: small streams on western slope of Rakhine Yoma, Myanmar. Habitat: freshwater.
