Ucayali, Peru, elevation 271 meters. Holotype: MUSM 33715. Paratypes: AMNH 248884 (10); CAS 227893 (10); FMNH 118274 (10); MCP 43880 (10); MCZ 168419 (10); MUSM 33714 (40, 4 c&s); MZUSP 103035 (10). Plus non-type specimens. Current status: Valid as Gymnotus chaviro Maxime & Albert 2009. Gymnotidae: Gymnotinae. Distribution: South America: Ucayali River and Madre de Dios River basins (Peru). Habitat: freshwater.
