Holotype: UFRJ 6693. Paratypes: many at UFRJ. Plus non-type specimens. •Valid as Melanorivulus megaroni (Costa 2010) -- (Costa 2011:241 [ref. 31655], Costa et al. 2014:196 [ref. 33400], Costa 2016:135 [ref. 34900] dated 2009, Costa et al. 2016:270 [ref. 35405], Nielsen 2017:66 [ref. 35340], Nielsen & Britzke 2019:42 [ref. 36525]). Current status: Valid as Melanorivulus megaroni (Costa 2010). Rivulidae: Rivulinae. Distribution: Upper and middle Xingu River drainage, southern Amazon River basin, central Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
