Type catalog: DoNascimiento et al. 2016:406 [ref. 34787]. •Valid as Hyphessobrycon amaronensis García-Alzate, Román-Valencia & Taphorn 2010 -- (García-Alzate et al. 2011:709 [ref. 31266], García-Alzate et al. 2013:861 [ref. 32692], Carvalho & Langeani 2013:526 [ref. 32913], Barriga Salazar 2014:107 [ref. 35745] as amazonensis and dated 2008, García-Alzate et al. 2015:222 [ref. 33855], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:49 [ref. 35633]). Current status: Valid as Hyphessobrycon amaronensis García-Alzate, Román-Valencia & Taphorn 2010. Acestrorhamphidae: Hyphessobryconinae. Distribution: Amazon River basin, Colombia and Ecuador. Habitat: freshwater.
