Holotype: IUQ 2288. Paratypes: many at AUM, IAVHP, IUQ and MPUJ. Plus additional non-type material. Type catalog: DoNascimiento et al. 2016:407 [ref. 34787]. •Valid as Hyphessobrycon taguae García-Alzate, Román-Valencia & Taphorn 2010 -- (García-Alzate et al. 2010:456 [ref. 31066], García-Alzate et al. 2011:709 [ref. 31266], García-Alzate et al. 2013:862 [ref. 32692], García-Alzate et al. 2015:223 [ref. 33855], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:51 [ref. 35633], Urbano-Bonilla et al. 2018:87 [ref. 35773]). Current status: Valid as Hyphessobrycon taguae García-Alzate, Román-Valencia & Taphorn 2010. Acestrorhamphidae: Hyphessobryconinae. Distribution: Amazon and Orinoco river basins, Colombia. Habitat: freshwater.
