nigerrima, Breviraja de Buen [F.] 1960:28, Fig. 10 [Revista de Biologia Marina, Valparaiso v. 10 (nos 1-3); ref. 11965] About 20 miles off Algarrobo, Chile, 33°20'29"S, 71°59'00"W, depth 800 meters. Holotype: EBMC 10207. Paratypes: EBMC 10208 (1). A neotype (USNM 267046) was designated by McEachran & Miyake 1984:785 [ref. 17441] without information on the loss of the original types; if they are lost then the neotype locality is off Chile, 34°53.5'S, 72°44'W, 780-925 fms. •Valid as Malacoraja nigerrima (de Buen 1960) -- (McEachran & Miyake 1984:785 [ref. 17441], Pequeño 1989:17 [ref. 14125], Chirichigno F. & Vélez D. 1998:89 [ref. 24555]). •Valid as Breviraja nigerrima de Buen 1960 -- (Pequeño & Lamilla 1985:243 [ref. 9593]). •Valid as Rajella nigerrima (de Buen 1960) -- (McEachran & Dunn 1998:286 [ref. 23312], Long & McCosker 1999:49 [ref. 23764], Compagno 1999:492 [ref. 25589], Last & Stehmann 2008:135 [ref. 29652], Weigmann 2016:122 [ref. 34211], Last et al. 2016:19 [ref. 34941], Last et al. 2016:346 [ref. 35000], Calle-Morán et al. 2020:246 [ref. 37881]). Current status: Valid as Rajella nigerrima (de Buen 1960). Rajidae. Distribution: Southeastern Pacific: Ecuador south to Chile. Habitat: marine.
