R.] 2010:166, Fig. 1 [Copeia 2010 (no. 1); ref. 30762] Rio Solimões, beach on north bank of Ilha Cuera, near Tefé, Municipality of Alvarães, 3°21.21'S, 64°39.59'W, Amazonas Brazil. Holotype: MCP 37357. Paratypes: many at INPA, MCP, MZUSP. Plus non-type specimens. Type catalog: Ferraris et al. 2017:[10] [ref. 35236]. •Valid as Porotergus duende de Santana & Crampton 2010 -- (Ferraris et al. 2017:[10] [ref. 35236], Bernt et al. 2018:474 [ref. 35797], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:21 [ref. 39298], Chuctaya et al. 2022:32 [ref. 42137], Torgersen et al. 2023:775 [ref. 40692], Mendonça et al. 2025:11 [ref. 42248], de Santana et al. 2025:15 [ref. 42602]). Current status: Valid as Porotergus duende de Santana & Crampton 2010. Apteronotidae: Apteronotinae. Distribution: South America: Negro, Solimões and Ucayali River drainages, western Amazon River basin, Colombia, Peru and Brazil. IUCN (2022): Least Concern. Habitat: freshwater.
