Paratypes: ANSP 170210 (4); MCP 29197 (2), 29198 (3), 33610 (1); ROM 61469 (34, 2 c&s). The gender of Phenacogaster is feminine, therefore mandatory correction to simulata (R. Fricke, 1 May 2016). •Valid as Phenacogaster simulata Lucena & Malabarba 2010 -- (Taphorn et al. 2022:18 [ref. 41297]). Current status: Valid as Phenacogaster simulata Lucena & Malabarba 2010. Characidae: Characinae. Distribution: South America: Potaro River, Essequibo River drainage (Guyana) endemic. Habitat: freshwater.
