R.] 2010:2231, Fig. 1A [Journal of Natural History v. 44 (no. 36); ref. 30915] Above Epupa Falls, Cunene River, on the Namibian/Angolan border, 17°00'07"S, 013°14'57"E, elevation about 600 meters. Holotype: SAIAB 78793. Paratypes: SAIAB 79502 (1), 79503 (1), 78778 (1), 78779 (5), 78783 (2), 118976 [ex 78793] (2); ZSM 38561-67 (2, 3, 1, 4, 1, 1, 1). Plus additional non-type material. Type catalog: Neumann 2011:270 [ref. 31652]. •Valid as Hippopotamyrus longilateralis Kramer & Swartz 2010 -- (Skelton 2019:230 [ref. 36564], Mutizwa et al. 2021:[3] [ref. 38598]). •Valid as Heteromormyrus longilateralis (Kramer & Swartz 2010) -- (Sullivan et al. 2022:178 [ref. 39811]). Current status: Valid as Heteromormyrus longilateralis (Kramer & Swartz 2010). Mormyridae. Distribution: Southern Africa: upper Kunene River drainage, in the Namibian/Angolan border area. Habitat: freshwater.
