F.] 2010:42, Figs. 2A, 3A, 4-6, 7A [Smithiana, Publications in Aquatic Biodiversity, Bulletin No. 12; ref. 30922] Madagascar, off Nosy Tanga, west coast of Nosy Bé [Nossi-Bé], 13°23'S, 48°11'E, depth 5-10 meters. Holotype: SAIAB 49583. Paratypes: SAIAB 54745 (3), USNM 372769 (1). Plus non-type specimen. Type catalog: Fricke et al. 2018:163 [ref. 35805]. •Valid as Opistognathus adelus Smith-Vaniz 2010 -- (Fricke et al. 2018:162 [ref. 35805], Smith-Vaniz 2022:310 [ref. 39947], Smith-Vaniz 2023:35 [ref. 40049]). Current status: Valid as Opistognathus adelus Smith-Vaniz 2010. Opistognathidae. Distribution: Southwestern Indian Ocean: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) and Madagascar. Habitat: marine.
