Holotype: MZUSP 103250. Paratypes: UFBA, USNM. Plus non-type specimens •Valid as Cyphocharax pinnilepis Vari, Zanata & Camelier 2010 -- (Silva et al. 2020:7 [ref. 37809], Vieira-Guimarães et al. 2024:41 [ref. 41258]). Current status: Valid as Cyphocharax pinnilepis Vari, Zanata & Camelier 2010. Curimatidae. Distribution: South America: Bahia State (Brazil). Habitat: freshwater.
