Current status: Valid as Smilosicyopus pentecost (Keith, Lord & Taillebois 2010). Gobiidae: Sicydiinae. Distribution: Vanuatu, Fiji, New Caledonia and Samoa [amphidromous]. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
