Holotype: MZUSP 105961. Paratypes: many at LISDEBE, MHNCI, MZUSP. •Valid as Astyanax bifasciatus Garavello & Sampaio 2010 -- (Koerber et al. 2017:4 [ref. 35083], da Graça et al. 2017:12 [ref. 35556], Koerber et al. 2017:4 [ref. 35632], Koerber et al. 2019:4 [ref. 36736], Neves et al. 2020:95 [ref. 37298]). •Valid as Psalidodon bifasciatus (Garavello & Sampaio 2010) -- (Terán et al. 2020:10 [ref. 37440], Mirande & Koerber 2020:2 [ref. 37594]). Current status: Valid as Psalidodon bifasciatus (Garavello & Sampaio 2010). Characidae: Stethaprioninae. Distribution: South America: Rio Iguaçu basin and upper Ruio Paraná basin (Brazil and Argentina). Habitat: freshwater.
