Paratypes: INPA 34990 (8); MCP 45865 (8); MZUSP 107827 (8); UFRGS 11224 (15), 11251 (23, 5 c&s); UNT 10052 (8). •Valid as Moenkhausia aurantia Bertaco, Jerep & Carvalho 2011 -- (Pastana & Dagosta 2014:395 [ref. 33384], Dagosta & Marinho 2016:[7] [ref. 34498], Azevedo-Santos & Benine 2016:208 [ref. 34837], Deprá et al. 2018:94 [ref. 36283], Marinho & Benine 2024:223 [ref. 40817], Reia et al. 2024:13 [ref. 40849]). Current status: Valid as Moenkhausia aurantia Bertaco, Jerep & Carvalho 2011. Characidae: Stethaprioninae. Distribution: South America: rio Paraná drainage, upper rio Tocantins basin, Goiás State, Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
