Current status: Valid as Moenkhausia aurantia Bertaco, Jerep & Carvalho 2011. Acestrorhamphidae: Stichonodontinae. Distribution: South America: rio Paraná drainage, upper rio Tocantins basin, Goiás State, Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
