Holotype: MNHN 2007-1569. Paratypes: (30) at CSIRO, HUMZ, MNHN, USNM. Plus one non-type specimen. •Valid as Chimaera opalescens Luchetti, Iglésias & Sellos 2011 -- (Weigmann 2016:165 [ref. 34211], Bañón et al. 2016:303 [ref. 34397], Biscoito et al. 2018:483 [ref. 37562], Almeida & Biscoito 2019:33 [ref. 37302], Carneiro et al. 2019:53 [ref. 37250], Catarino et al. 2020:[3] [ref. 37673], Iglésias et al. 2021:Tab. 4 [ref. 38195], Bañón & Mano 2022:17 [ref. 40121], Séret & Quod 2023:2 [ref. 40565]). Current status: Valid as Chimaera opalescens Luchetti, Iglésias & Sellos 2011. Chimaeridae. Distribution: Northeastern Atlantic: Rockall Trough; Azores and seamounts off Madeira; Galicia (Spain). Habitat: marine.
