itau, Oligosarcus Mirande [J. M.], Aguilera [G.] & Azpelicueta [M. de las M.] 2011:4, Figs. 1-6 [Zootaxa No. 2994; ref. 31465] Río Bermejo basin, small tributary to Río Itau, near Campo Largo, 22°01'34"S, 63°56'06"W, General San Martín, Salta, Argentina, elevation 690 meters. Holotype: CI-FML 3856. Paratypes: CI-FML 3857 (1), 3858 (1 c&s). •Placement in Oligosarcus is controversial -- (Riveiro & Menezes 2015:41 [ref. 33768]). •Valid as Oligosarcus itau Mirande, Aguilera & Azpelicueta 2011 -- (Koerber 2014:5 [ref. 33621], Sarmiento et al. 2014:185 [ref. 35004], Mirande & Koerber 2015:25 [ref. 35117], Cancino et al. 2024:143 [ref. 41222], Menezes & Camelier 2024:243 [ref. 40817]). Current status: Valid as Oligosarcus itau Mirande, Aguilera & Azpelicueta 2011. Acestrorhamphidae: Acestrorhamphinae. Distribution: South America: Bermejo River drainage (Argentina and Bolivia). Habitat: freshwater.
