Paratypes: many at ANSP, CAS, INPA, MZUSP, ROM. Plus many non-type specimens. The name asterophysa is an adjective. •Valid as Ossancora asterophysa Birindelli & Sabaj Pérez 2011 -- (Birindelli 2014:538 [ref. 33501], Sarmiento et al. 2014:190 [ref. 35004], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:22 [ref. 39298]). Current status: Valid as Ossancora asterophysa Birindelli & Sabaj Pérez 2011. Doradidae: Doradinae. Distribution: South America: lowland areas in the Amazon River basin (Bolivia, Brazil and Peru). Habitat: freshwater.
