pogonius, Histiophryne Arnold [R. J.] 2012:63, Figs. 1-3 [Zootaxa No. 3253; ref. 31855] From live fish trade, reportedly from Cebu, Philippines. Holotype: UW 118820. Paratypes: UW 119522 (1), 119523 (1), 19920 (2). Type catalog: Pietsch & Arnold 2020:338 [ref. 38284]. Genus Histiophryne is feminine, so the species epithet (an adjective meaning bearded) is changed to pogonia. •Valid as Histiophryne pogonius Arnold 2012 -- (Arnold & Pietsch 2018:629 [ref. 36266], Pietsch & Arnold 2020:338 [ref. 38284], Allen & Erdmann 2024:168 [ref. 40796]). •Valid as Histiophryne pogonia Arnold 2012.
