Paratypes: UFRJ 5675 (3, c&s), 5683 (6). •Valid as Trichomycterus macrophthalmus Barbosa & Costa 2012 -- (Costa et al. 2022:513 [ref. 39820] in subgenus Psammocambeva, Vilardo et al. 2023:5 [ref. 40643] as Trichomycterus macrophtalmus). Current status: Valid as Trichomycterus macrophthalmus Barbosa & Costa 2012. Trichomycteridae: Trichomycterinae. Distribution: South America: upper Paraíba do Sul River basin (Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil). Habitat: freshwater.
