Holotype: YPM 25201. Paratypes: MRAC 99-41-P-1746 (1) •Valid as Hemitaeniochromis brachyrhynchus Oliver 2012 -- (Konings 2016:171 [ref. 34521], Dierickx & Snoeks 2020:9 [ref. 37605]). Current status: Valid as Hemitaeniochromis brachyrhynchus Oliver 2012. Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Eastern Africa: Lake Malawi. Habitat: freshwater.
