This species was described on p. 133, incorporating subspecies indicus and orientalis; however there was no holotype established for indicus. Current status: Valid as Hirundichthys indicus Shakhovskoy & Parin 2013. Exocoetidae. Distribution: Western and central Indian Ocean. Habitat: marine.
