Holotype (unique): USNM 207761. Replacement name for Eptatretus fernholmi McMillan & Wisner 2004, preoccupied by Paramyxine fernholmi Kuo et al 1994. The holotype was reported as lost, but found in 2012 at SIO by Mincarone. •Valid as Eptatretus luzonicus Fernholm, Norén, Kullander, Quattrini, Zintzen, Roberts, Mok & Kuo 2013 -- (Mincarone & McCosker 2014:343 [ref. 33284], Zintzen et al. 2015:376 [ref. 33803], Mincarone 2017:2 [ref. 35376]).
