A.] & Berbigier [G.] 2013:227, Figs. 1-2 [Zootaxa 3700 (no. 2); ref. 32870] Rio Grande do Sul, border between Cambará do Dul and Bom Jesus, rio das Antas, rio Jacuí drainage, laguna dos Patos system, 28°50'S, 50°06'W, Brazil. Holotype: MCP 47707. Paratypes: MCP, MCN, UFRGS. Plus non-type specimens. •Valid as Astyanax pirabitira Lucena, Bertaco & Berbigier 2013 -- (Ingenito & Duboc 2014:282 [ref. 33374], Bertaco & Vigo 2015:267 [ref. 33857], Bertaco et al. 2016:412 [ref. 34561], da Graça et al. 2017:13 [ref. 35556], Oliveira et al. 2017:180 [ref. 35587], Lucena et al. 2017:6 [ref. 35607]). Current status: Valid as Astyanax pirabitira Lucena, Bertaco & Berbigier 2013. Characidae: Stethaprioninae. Distribution: Laguna dos Patos system, southern Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
