Paratypes: many at ANSP, AUM, ROM. •Valid as Characidium amaila Lujan, Agudelo-Zamora, Taphorn, Booth & López-Fernández 2013 -- (Melo & Oyakawa 2015:287 [ref. 33788], Zanata & Ohara 2015:375 [ref. 33970], Flausino Junior et al. 2020:357 [ref. 37666], Agudelo-Zamora et al. 2020:11 [ref. 37812], Zanata et al. 2020:10 [ref. 37813], Zanata & Ohara 2020:8 [ref. 38004], Taphorn et al. 2022:20 [ref. 41297]). Current status: Valid as Characidium amaila Lujan, Agudelo-Zamora, Taphorn, Booth & López-Fernández 2013. Crenuchidae: Characidiinae. Distribution: South America: Kuribrong watershed (Guyana) endemic. Habitat: freshwater.
