Paratypes: CAS-SU, FAKU, GCRL, MNHN, MUMS, UF, USNM, ZMB. Plus non-type material. •Valid as Kyphosus atlanticus Sakai & Nakabo 2014 -- (Almeida & Alves 2019:270 [ref. 37509]). •Synonym of Kyphosus sectatrix (Linnaeus 1758) -- (Knudsen & Clements 2016:262 [ref. 34458]). Current status: Synonym of Kyphosus sectatrix (LInnaeus 1758). Kyphosidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic (North Carolina, Bermuda, to Santos, Brazil and the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea and Barbados) and eastern Atlantic (Canary Islands, Cameroon and São Tomé and Principe) (if valid). Habitat: marine.
