Holotype: ZM-CBSU 225. Paratypes: ZM-CBSU (14). Current status: Valid as Aphaniops furcatus (Teimori, Esmaeili, Erpenbeck & Reichenbacher 2014). Aphaniidae. Distribution: Middle East: Salty rivers and hot sulphuric springs, Hormuz and Makran basins (Hormuzgan and Fars, southern Iran). Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
