Holotype: MNRJ 39677. Paratypes: MCP 46942 (10, 2 c&s); MHNCI 12485 (8 plus 5); MNRJ 39678 (11, 2 c&s); NUP 13501 (8). Type catalog: Oliveira et al. 2022:6 [ref. 39255]. •Valid as Astyanax eremus Ingenito & Duboc 2014 -- (da Graça et al. 2017:12 [ref. 35556], Oliveira et al. 2017:179 [ref. 35587], Lucena et al. 2017:6 [ref. 35607], Reis et al. 2020:458 [ref. 38364], Dagosta & Marinho 2022:12 [ref. 39122]). Current status: Valid as Astyanax eremus Ingenito & Duboc 2014. Characidae: Stethaprioninae. Distribution: South America: Iguaçu and Paraná River basins (Brazil). Habitat: freshwater.
