Holotype: KBKU 61062. Paratypes: AMS, BSKU, CMNH-ZF, FAKU, KAUM-I, KPM-NI, MNHN, NSMT-P, KSHS, SMF, URM-P, USNM. •Valid as Pterois paucispinula Matsunuma & Motomura 2014 -- (Matsunuma & Motomura 2015:[25] [ref. 33935], Matsunuma & Motomura 2018:110 [ref. 36416], Gloerfelt-Tarp & Kailola 2022:115 [ref. 41223]). •Valid as Pteropterus paucispinula (Matsunuma & Motomura 2014) -- (Chou et al. 2023:6 [ref. 41366]. Allen & Erdmann 2024:241 [ref. 40796] as Pteropterois paucispinula). Current status: Valid as Pteropterus paucispinula (Matsunuma & Motomura 2014). Scorpaenidae: Pteroinae. Distribution: Western and central Pacific: South China Sea and Philippines east to Society Islands (French Polynesia), north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia, Solomon Islands and Wallis and Futuna Islands. Habitat: marine.
