Paratypes: MBML, MNRJ, MZUSP. •Valid as Characidium helmeri Zanata, Sarmento-Soares & Martins-Pinheiro 2015 -- (Silva et al. 2020:7 [ref. 37809], Oliveira-Silva et al. 2024:6 [ref. 41256], Vieira-Guimarães et al. 2024:40 [ref. 41258]). Current status: Valid as Characidium helmeri Zanata, Sarmento-Soares & Martins-Pinheiro 2015. Crenuchidae: Characidiinae. Distribution: South America: coastal rivers, southern Bahia State (Brazil). Habitat: freshwater.
