Paratypes: BPBM, SAIAB, USNM. •Valid as Parapriacanthus punctulatus Randall & Bogorodsky 2016 -- (Fricke et al. 2018:230 [ref. 35805], Randall & Victor 2022:96 [ref. 39910]). Current status: Valid as Parapriacanthus punctulatus Randall & Bogorodsky 2016. Pempheridae. Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) and Mozambique east to Seychelles, Comoros, Madagascar, Saint Brandon's Shoals and western Mascarenes (La Réunion). Habitat: marine.
