Current status: Valid as Hoplias misionera Rosso, Mabragaña, González-Castro, Delpiani, Avigliano, Schenone et al. 2016. Erythrinidae. Distribution: South America: Paraguay, Paraná, Uruguay and Amazon River basins (Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay; ?Uruguay). Habitat: freshwater.
