Current status: Valid as Characidium travassosi Melo, Buckup & Oyakawa 2016. Crenuchidae: Characidiinae. Distribution: South America: Iguaçu and Ribeira de Iguape River basins, Mata Atlântica (Paraná State, Brazil). Habitat: freshwater.
