Holotype: ANSP 138391. Paratype: ANSP 138392 (1). •Valid as Anoptoplacus pygmaeus Smith-Vaniz 2017 -- (Fricke et al. 2024:382 [ref. 41622]). Current status: Valid as Anoptoplacus pygmaeus Smith-Vaniz 2017. Opistognathidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: northwestern Caribbean Sea off northern Quintana Roo (Mexico) endemic. Habitat: marine.
