F.] 2017:49, Figs. 2-3, 4A, 5A [Journal of the Ocean Science Foundation v. 26; ref. 35243] Mexico, Quintana Roo, Arrowsmith Bank off Yucatán, near Cozumel Island, 20°20.5'N, 87°19.4'W, trawled in 240-267 meters. Holotype: ANSP 138391. Paratype: ANSP 138392 (1). •Valid as Anoptoplacus pygmaeus Smith-Vaniz 2017 -- (Fricke et al. 2024:382 [ref. 41622]). Current status: Valid as Anoptoplacus pygmaeus Smith-Vaniz 2017. Opistognathidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: northwestern Caribbean Sea off northern Quintana Roo (Mexico) endemic. Habitat: marine.
