Holotype: USNM 362229. Paratypes: BPBM, CAS, HUJ, KAUM, MNHN, SAIAB, SMF, USNM. Plus additional non-type specimens. •Valid as Dendrochirus hemprichi Matsunuma, Motomura & Bogorodsky 2017 -- (Fricke et al. 2018:130 [ref. 35805], Golani & Fricke 2018:52 [ref. 36273], Matsunuma & Motomura 2019:[27] [ref. 36536], Poss & Motomura 2022:510 [ref. 39725]). •Valid as Neochirus hemprichi (Matsunuma, Motomura & Bogorodsky 2017) -- (Chou et al. 2023:5 [ref. 41366]). Current status: Valid as Neochirus hemprichi (Matsunuma, Motomura & Bogorodsky 2017). Scorpaenidae: Pteroinae. Distribution: Red Sea; western Indian Ocean: South Africa, East Africa and Gulf of Aden (Yemen) east to Seychelles and Madagascar. Habitat: marine.
