Holotype: UMMZ 250295. Paratypes: UMMZ •Valid as Astyanax tehuacanensis Schmitter-Soto 2017 -- (Page et al. 2023:77 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Astyanax tehuacanensis Schmitter-Soto 2017. Characidae: Stethaprioninae. Distribution: Southern North America: Río Salado, Gulf of Mexico versant, Puebla (Mexico). Habitat: freshwater.
