Paratypes: CIMC, UFRJ. •Valid as Austrolebias pongondo Costa & Cheffe 2017 -- (Fernandes et al. 2020:[3] 3 [ref. 38700], Volcan et al. 2021:104 [ref. 38292]). •Valid as Garcialebias pongondo (Costa & Cheffe 2017) -- (Alonso et al. 2023:13 [ref. 40292]). Current status: Valid as Garcialebias pongondo (Costa & Cheffe 2017). Rivulidae: Cynolebiinae. Distribution: South America: temporary pools and swamps in the floodplains south of the São Gonçalo channel, Rio Grande do Sul state, southeastern Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
