Type catalog: Oliveira et al. 2022:28 [ref. 39255]. •Valid as Hypostomus velhochico Zawadzki, Oyakawa & Britski 2017 -- (Silva et al. 2020:11 [ref. 37809]). Current status: Valid as Hypostomus velhochico Zawadzki, Oyakawa & Britski 2017. Loricariidae: Hypostominae. Distribution: South America: Rio São Francisco basin (Brazil). Habitat: freshwater.
