Plus non-type material. •Valid as Gymnogeophagus taroba Casciotta, Almirón, Piálek & Říčan 2017 -- (Koerber et al. 2019:11 [ref. 36736], Mirande & Koerber 2020:2 [ref. 37594], Reis et al. 2020:473 [ref. 38364]). Current status: Valid as Gymnogeophagus taroba Casciotta, Almirón, Piálek & Říčan 2017. Cichlidae: Cichlinae. Distribution: South America: Iguaçu River basin (Argentina, Brazil). Habitat: freshwater.
