Paratypes: MUFS, NTUM. •Valid as Gymnocranius obesus Chen, Miki & Borsa 2017 -- (Miki in Koeda & Ho 2019:865 [ref. 42393], Dewa et al. 2022:19 [ref. 40001], Allen & Erdmann 2024:523 [ref. 40796]). Current status: Valid as Gymnocranius obesus Chen, Miki & Borsa 2017. Lethrinidae: Monotaxinae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: Indonesia north to Taiwan and Kagoshima Prefecture (southern Japan). Habitat: marine.
