hormuzensis, Aphanius Teimori [A.], Esmaeili [H. R.], Hamidan [N. A.] & Reichenbacher [B.] 2018:[7], Figs. 3, 4, 5a-f [Journal of Zoological Systematics and Evolutionary Research = Zeitschrift für zoologische Systematik und Evolutionsforschung v. 56 (no. 4); ref. 35934] Mahran River, Gotab village, 15 km south of Bastak, Hormuzgan Province, Iran, 27°08'39.8"N, 54°15'46.1"E, elevation 330 meters. Holotype: ZM-FISBUK 157. Paratypes: ZM-FISBUK. Treated as a nomen nudum by Freyhof & Yoğurtçuoğlu 2020:430 [ref. 37656], who claim that repository ZM-FISBUK was not formally explained in original publication. However, Teimori et al. 2018:[7] [ref. 35934] provide ZooBank registration number, and repository is explained on ZooBank web page. We therefore treat Aphanius hormuzensis Teimori, Esmaeili, Hamidan & Reichenbacher 2018 as available, and Aphaniops teimorii Freyhof & Yoğurtçuoğlu 2020 as an unneeded replacement name. See also comments by Teimori et al. 2020:15 [ref. 37826]. •Valid as Aphanius hormuzensis Teimori, Esmaeili, Hamidan & Reichenbacher 2018 -- (Esmaeili et al. 2018:72 [ref. 36089], Teimori 2018:[4] 222 [ref. 36215], Kärst et al. 2020:103 [ref. 38165]). •In the synonymy of Aphaniops teimorii Freyhof & Yoğurtçuoğlu 2020 -- (Freyhof & Yoğurtçuoğlu 2020:430 [ref. 37656]). •Valid as Aphaniops hormuzensis (Teimori, Esmaeili, Hamidan & Reichenbacher 2018) -- (Charmpila et al. 2020:[2] [ref. 37697], Esmaeili et al. 2020:5 [ref. 37446], Teimori et al. 2020:16 [ref. 37826], Teimori et al. 2021:[5] 38 [ref. 39138], Zarei et al. 2022:[6] 856 [ref. 40528], Çiçek et al. 2024:350 [ref. 40789]).
