Current status: Valid as Stolephorus tamilensis Gangan, Pavan-Kumar, Jahageerdar & Jaiswar 2020. Engraulidae: Engraulinae. Distribution: Indian Ocean: Gulf of Mannar, Tamil Nadu, southern India. Habitat: marine.
